4 September, 2023

This strategic alliance aims to bring the business and university sectors closer together and jointly develop R&D&I solutions.

TSK, one of the main engineering and technology groups in Spain, thus joins the strategic alliance promoted by the educational institution, with the aim of bringing business reality closer to students and strengthening the university-business link. The company joins this select group because of its firm commitment to innovation and technological development, care for the environment, ethical principles and its contribution to the generation of employment and development, which make it a business benchmark.

At the signing ceremony on Thursday, August 24, Feniosky Peña-Mora, Dean of the School of Engineering, Carlos Gutiérrez, Director of Research Funding, Arturo Molina, Director of the Institute for Advanced Materials, Alvaro Figaredo, Director of TSK in Mexico, and Joaquín García, CEO of TSK, were present.

On the part of the Tec. de Monterrey, “the School’s objective is to train highly qualified professionals who are competently valid from the moment they enter the labor market and capable of transforming society. The School maintains a close collaboration with different companies, but this strategic alliance is something much deeper. It is a commitment to work together on everything related to the training our students receive, including the design of programs or the updating of methodology. For this reason, it is a privilege to have TSK, a company of extraordinary international prestige. In addition, it was emphasized that being able to share research and development with an engineering company of this level and serve as a support to overcome day-to-day challenges, will undoubtedly provide many benefits to both institutions.

Both parties emphasized the international nature of the agreement as it will be carried out both in the 26 campuses of the Tec. de Monterrey in Mexico, as well as in the new Center for Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation that the Tec. de Monterrey will open in Asturias in collaboration with the University of Oviedo and the Government of the Principality of Asturias.

For his part, Joaquín García, CEO of TSK has indicated that “the most important thing for TSK is to provide students with a unique opportunity to approach the professional world with projects in Mexico and other Latin American countries where technology is part of their DNA. In that sense, the most important thing for the young people is to use this approach to their advantage and thus gain a competitive advantage in a global labor market. This alliance will not only allow them to acquire technical knowledge and practical skills, but will also give them the opportunity to develop their teamwork and adaptability in a highly challenging, dynamic and clearly technological environment.

TSK has had a stable presence in Mexico for more than 10 years and is currently executing 7 combined cycle plants with a total capacity of 4,500 MW.

Tecnológico de Monterrey, with nearly 100,000 students, 26 campuses in Mexico, 18 international locations and 80 years of history, is one of the most important academic institutions in Latin America.
