PHB signs a contract for the re-qualification and expansion of the industrial pier at the port of Aqaba

A consortium formed by Técnicas Reunidas and PHB signed the contract to re-qualify and expand the industrial pier at the port of Aqaba, in Jordan, for a value of 130 million euro this Sunday in Amman with Jordan Industrial Ports Company (JIPC) .

Spain’s Ambassador to Jordan attended the signing ceremony, along with the Presidents and Directors of Jordan Phosphate Mines Co and Arab Potash Company, shareholder of JIPC.

The scope of the works includes the re-qualification of the existing industrial pier, a new jetty, three ship loaders and one ship unloader, a sulfur storage yard, new buildings, roads, interconnecting piping, and the upgrade of the complete conveyor belt system.

The time frame for the execution of the works is 22 months, and they will be performed without interfering on production.

This new contract, adding up to the already ongoing ones in Saudi Arabia and Emirates, establishes PHD as a main player in material handling projects of this area.
