PHB has won a new turnkey contract for the development of the materials handling system in the new 1000 MW thermal power plant belonging to the ELEKTROWNIA OSTROLEKA SA group, located in Ostroleka, Poland.

On June 19, 2019, General Electric awarded PHB three EPC contracts, for the engineering, supply, manufacture, transport, assembly and commissioning of the new materials handling and storage system of the Ostroleka plant. The contracts cover the areas of coal, slag and plaster respectively.

The coal handling system comprises the installation for unloading wagons and a system of redundant conveyor belts to the storage yard, as well as feeding the boiler from the storage yard. In total, the conveyor system will have a length of 2,800 linear meters. The scope includes all the necessary towers and galleries, the mechanical, electrical and control components, as well as the auxiliary equipment and systems: wagon defrosting system to compensate for the low winter temperatures that can be between -20ºC / -30ºC, in-line sampling, rotary feeders, dust suppression systems, control of ambient noise levels, etc. The design capacity of the entire installation is 1,600 tons / hour.

The slag management system includes a redundant system of conveyor belts from the crushing station to the new storage unit of 9,300 tons capacity, a type VP2 scraper inside the unit for the extraction of the material, and a system of conveyors from the unit to two loading stations for trucks and wagons respectively. Similar to the scope for coal, the slag contract includes all the necessary structural elements, mechanical, electrical and control components, as well as the auxiliary systems required for the proper functioning of the entire system. The design capacity for the whole 1,100 meters of belts that make up the installation is 60 tons / hour for storage and 150 tons / hour for extraction and loading.

Finally, the plaster handling system is equivalent to that of the slag system, including a redundant system of belts from the filtration equipment to the new storage warehouse of 16,800 tons capacity, a type VP2 scraper and the system of belts that feed two stations for loading trucks and wagons respectively. The design capacity for the whole 800 meters of belts that make up the installation is 40 tons / hour for storage and 250 tons / hour for extraction and loading.

The new Thermal Power Plant, including all material handling systems, is scheduled for commissioning for the first quarter of 2022, and will have all safety and environmental protection measures, both at the level of dust emission and noise.
