Luis Fernández Goñi

Project Manager

Luis Fernández Goñi was Project Manager at TSK from his incorporation in 2007 until 2016, when he began to control production and budgetary deviations, an essential task in projects on the scale of those assumed by the company.

How has the company evolved since your arrival at TSK in 2007?

At that time we were a well-established company, with almost 20 years in the sector, but which was already beginning to gain momentum and stand out in the national scene. Since then we have grown a lot, both in terms of the number of staff and the quantity and complexity of projects: we are not only a company dedicated to energy, but we also have a versatility that allows us to tackle projects such as Bucket Wheel Stacker Reclaimer for a steel mill in Wales or a sugar refinery in Saudi Arabia with the same efficiency.

Is volume responsible for such diversity when implementing projects?

Not necessarily. Volume allows us to take on and execute more projects simultaneously, but it is the versatility of our team that allows us to be able to carry out very diverse tasks. The vast majority of the staff is capable of carrying out a multitude of tasks within a project, and that “general knowledge” is terribly practical. On the other hand, we have a large number of specialists from whom, in turn, the rest of the team also learns.

Is everyone involved in a project a member of TSK?

No, that would not be feasible. We must bear in mind that we are always involved in various medium and large projects both inside and outside Spain. TSK mainly provides a technical team, but aspects such as legal advice, security and a large part of the workforce are local, which in turn helps to generate local employment in our projects.

How do you manage constant growth in such an innovative field as engineering?

The policy of the company in this aspect is to maintain a constant learning. The Human Resources department offers a great deal of training in many areas, from specialized engineering or design courses to languages or management. And if there is one that is not offered, it is proposed to the department and provided it brings together a sufficient number of interested personnel it would be offered.

Would you say that TSK is a launch pad company or a place to set up a career opportunity?

A career opportunity, without a doubt. The management itself ensures that there is a possibility of taking on more responsibility and opting to participate in new projects. I would say that the launch pad itself is in TSK, as the possibilities to learn, improve and prosper are within the company.
