AES awards TSK a 460 MW hybrid solar project (260 PV+200 BESS)
23 February, 2024
This new award in Puerto Rico is in addition to the plants executed by AES in the Dominican Republic, strengthening the alliance with the American energy company, which has a strong presence in the Caribbean region.
The MARAHU project consists of two photovoltaic plants located in the south of Puerto Rico. The first facility will be composed of 150 MWp photovoltaic and a battery storage system “BESS STAND ALONE” with a capacity of 400MWh. The second facility will be composed of 110 MWp photovoltaic and a battery storage system with a capacity of 400MWh.
Both projects will be interconnected to the National Electricity System through two 34.5/115kV substations and their respective 115kV lines.
This project is a milestone for the country, as it will be the largest in terms of installed capacity in the Caribbean region, as well as the first of many that the Puerto Rican government plans to build in the coming years to ensure the island’s energy transition, reduce energy costs and reduce dependence on oil derivatives.
