Tell me a little about EPC projects and what they mean for TSK and its customers

These are projects in which the customer has a need for energy production that we solve from start to finish, from design to commissioning, through all the intermediate phases. The big projects have an approximate duration of 24 to 36 months and, depending on the case, some workmates move to the site. As an example, in our next project we estimate peaks of 150 people. There are people who spend that entire period at the destination and others like me who do it partially, but what is clear is that it requires a very large involvement from everyone.

What has led TSK to carry out so many EPC projects outside Spain?

There are three keys that explain the success of our projects abroad: the first is the company’s ability to adapt to the “characteristics” of the different locations of our projects, whether on a political or cultural level, etc. The second is that we have a very well trained multidisciplinary team, very hard working and, above all, very involved in the success of each project. Finally, TSK has made a very strong commitment to innovation and renewables in their projects, and that is very attractive to our customers.

How do you cope with such a long stay away from family and home?

Generally, those of us who get involved in these projects have a certain profile, in a way that we are predisposed to move. The fact of doing it together with colleagues you already know helps you not feel alone. I would also highlight the feelings of pride and accomplishment, both personally and professionally, of having successfully carried out a project of great magnitude in very different environments and that will improve the lives of many people. It is an indescribable reward.

What would you say is the competitive advantage of TSK in attracting talent?

TSK offers an ideal environment to establish a career opportunity. The chance to take on more responsibility is always there, we have more exposure and impact than in other companies, you just have to step up and work hard, but improvement and recognition comes.

What new challenges does TSK face in the field of energy innovation?

In the coming weeks we will start the project Noor Midelt 1 in Morocco. It is a hybrid solar plant that combines photovoltaic and solar thermal energy. It will be our largest project to date, and will manage the production and supply of solar energy according to the demand of the grid, thus alleviating the biggest problem of renewable energy so far, which is precisely the inability of its storage on a large scale and its management according to demand, even beyond daylight hours.
